How can we help?

Quickly find an answer about your workouts, programs, statistics, account or subscription.

Getting started

Getting started

Where do I start?+

There are three ways in, all from the Workouts tab: import a ready-made program (the “Ready-made programs” card), build your own template (“Create a workout template”), or improvise with “Start a freestyle workout”.

The first time you open an empty account, the app offers the same choices in a “Where do you want to start?” drawer.

How do I start a workout?+

In the Workouts tab, tap “Start” next to one of your templates, or “Start a freestyle workout” to begin from scratch. Enter your loads and reps, then check off each set as you complete it.

What is a freestyle workout?+

A workout without a preset template: you add exercises on the fly as you train. Once it's done, you can turn it into a template from your history.

Can I leave the workout screen without losing my workout?+

Yes. The chevron at the top left shrinks the workout into a mini bar above the tabs: browse the app, then tap the bar to come back.

If you start another workout while one is in progress, the app asks you to choose between “Resume” and “Abandon & start”.

How do I finish or abandon a workout?+

Tap “Finish” at the top of the screen, then choose “Save workout” or “Abandon workout”. An abandoned workout is not saved.

If some sets are still unchecked, the app warns you: you can go ahead with “Save anyway”.

App settings

Where are the app's settings?+

Profile tab → the ⚙︎ icon at the top right. The pencil next to it opens “Edit profile”.

How do I switch between light and dark theme?+

Profile → ⚙︎ Settings → Appearance: “Automatic” (follows your phone's setting), “Light” or “Dark”.

How do I change the app's language?+

Profile → pencil → Edit profile → Language: Français or English. The Apple Watch follows the language chosen on the iPhone.

Can I use pounds (lb) or inches?+

Not yet: Musku works in kilograms and centimetres. Only the date format and the decimal separator follow the language.

Which notifications does Musku send?+

The end of a rest period, and a reminder if a workout stays open for 30 minutes with no activity. Both are turned off with “Push notifications” in Profile → ⚙︎ Settings → Communications, where you also manage emails.

Workouts

During a workout

What is the LAST column?+

It shows, set by set, your previous performance on that exercise, so you can compare it with today's.

You choose what it compares against in Profile → ⚙︎ Settings → Workout → “Previous values”: “Across all workouts” or “Same workout template”. The setting is locked while a workout is in progress.

How do I mark a warm-up, failure or drop set?+

Tap the coloured pill to the left of the set, then pick its type: Normal (N), Warm-up (W), To failure (F) or Drop set (D).

Warm-up sets count neither towards volume nor towards muscle distribution.

How do I add or delete a set?+

“Add a set” sits below each exercise's sets. To delete one, swipe it to the left, or tap its type pill, then “Delete this set?”.

How do I replace, reorder or remove an exercise?+

Open the exercise's ··· menu: “Replace this exercise”, “Reorder exercises” or “Remove exercise”. You can also move an exercise by long-pressing its thumbnail or name.

“Add exercise”, at the bottom of the workout, lets you add several at once.

Can I add notes?+

Yes. “Add a note” under an exercise's name keeps a cue (technique, machine setting, how it felt) that comes back every workout.

How do I log bodyweight, weighted, cardio or isometric exercises?+

The columns adapt to the exercise's category: reps only for bodyweight or resistance bands, +kg for weighted bodyweight, −kg for assisted bodyweight, KM and MIN for cardio, SEC for isometric holds (planks, wall sits…).

What is the bar at the top of the workout?+

Your progress: one block per exercise, as wide as its number of sets, filling up in green as you check sets off.

How do I see an exercise's history mid-workout?+

Tap the exercise's name or thumbnail: its page opens with your records and past workouts.

Rest timer

How does the rest timer work?+

It starts on its own as soon as you check off a set, and stops if you uncheck it. While you rest, a bar at the bottom of the screen shows the time left: tap it to expand it, add or remove time.

How do I set the rest duration?+

Rest is set per exercise: tap the “Rest” chip under the exercise's name. Pick a duration from 30 s to 4 min, a custom one (up to 10 min, in 5-second steps) or “No timer”. With nothing set, rest is 90 s.

The same chip exists in the template editor: the duration is then saved with the template.

Am I notified when rest is over?+

Yes: the phone vibrates and a “Rest over” notification appears. On iPhone, the timer also shows on the lock screen and in the Dynamic Island. On Android, the notification appears when the app is in the background or the screen is locked.

My rest timer doesn't alert me, what should I do?+

Check, in order: “Push notifications” is on in Profile → ⚙︎ Settings → Communications; Musku's notifications are allowed in your phone's settings; no Focus or Do Not Disturb mode is hiding them; the exercise isn't set to “No timer”.

On Android, it is normal not to see a notification while Musku is on screen: the phone vibrates when rest is over, and the notification only appears when the app is in the background or the screen is locked.

Can I start a timer by hand?+

Yes: the timer icon at the top of the workout opens the “Manual timer”. Pick a duration, then “Start”.

How do I time a plank or a cardio set?+

On isometric and cardio exercises, a play button replaces the load field: it starts a full-screen count-up timer. Tap “Stop” when you're done.

For isometric sets, the duration goes into the SEC column, the set is checked off and rest starts. For cardio, the duration is filled in as minutes and all that's left is to type the distance.

Templates & programs

How do I create a workout template?+

In the Workouts tab, tap “Create a workout template”, name it, then add your exercises. For each one you set the number of sets, target reps and load, and rest time. The template can be reused for every workout.

Creating or editing a template requires an internet connection.

How do I organise my templates into folders?+

Tap the + in the “My workouts” header, then “Create a folder”. To file a template: the template's ··· menu → “Move to…”.

A folder's ··· menu lets you rename or delete it: its templates are not deleted, they simply move out of the folder.

How do I duplicate a template?+

The template's ··· menu → “Duplicate”. The copy is named “Name (copy)” and counts as one more template.

Can I turn a past workout into a template?+

Yes: in the History tab, open the workout's ··· menu, then “Create a workout template”. Handy after a good freestyle workout.

Are there ready-made programs?+

Yes: the “Ready-made programs” card in the Workouts tab opens the list of programs (Beginner Full Body, Upper / Lower, Push Pull Legs…), with their level, goal and workouts per week. Open a program and tap “Add to my workouts”: its workouts join yours, and you can tweak them like any other template.

Programs marked with a gold crown are reserved for Premium subscribers.

How many templates on the free plan?+

Up to 3 workout templates: a counter next to the create button keeps track. Copies, templates made from your history and the workouts of an imported program all count. Premium removes the limit.

The number of workouts you log, on the other hand, is unlimited, and freestyle workouts are always available.

Exercises

How do I create my own exercise?+

In the Exercises tab, or in the picker when adding an exercise to a workout, tap “Create an exercise”. Enter a name and a muscle group; the category (barbell, dumbbells, machine, bodyweight…) and secondary muscles are optional.

Choose the category carefully: it decides which columns show up during the workout (load, reps only, duration, distance).

Can I edit or delete an exercise I created?+

Yes: open its page from the Exercises tab. Tap “Edit”, at the top of the page, to change its muscle group and category; the “Delete” button is at the very bottom. Only your custom exercises can be edited.

Where do I see my records and progress on an exercise?+

Exercises tab → the exercise. The “Stats” tab shows your best estimated 1RM, best load and best volume; the “History” tab lists all your workouts, with where the exercise sat in each one (“Position 4/6”).

Progress charts (30 days, 3 months, 1 year, all) are part of Premium.

Progress

History & sharing

Can I edit or delete a past workout?+

Yes. In the History tab, open the workout's ··· menu: “Edit” lets you fix its name, date, duration and every set (load, reps, type); “Delete” erases it for good.

How do I share my workout?+

Tap “Share my workout” on the end-of-workout screen, or later from your history. Choose between several cards (Summary, Exercises, Photo, and Record if you beat one), add a photo if you like, then send the image to the app of your choice.

Records

How do records work?+

Whenever you beat your best performance on an exercise (max weight, estimated 1RM, volume or max reps), the set's pill turns into a gold trophy. For cardio, records track distance and time.

Tap the trophy to see the details: previous record, new record and the difference. The end-of-workout summary lists every record you beat.

How is the estimated 1RM calculated?+

With the Epley formula, applied to your sets: load × (1 + reps / 30). It's an estimate of your one-rep max: it moves when your performances on the exercise move, without you ever having to attempt a true max.

Stats & tracking

What statistics does Musku offer?+

In the Profile tab, under “My stats”:

  • Monthly summary: workouts, volume, records and time, compared with the previous month;
  • Muscle Distribution: your sets per muscle group, by week or month, with indicative volume reference points;
  • Top progressions: your 10 biggest improvements over a period;
  • Strength index: an index that sums up how your strength performances evolve, set to 100 at your starting point;
  • Session Analysis: one workout of a template compared with the previous ones;
  • Activity calendar: 53 weeks of training at a glance, with your week streak;
  • Badges: your milestones for workouts, volume, consistency, records and variety.

These screens are part of Premium. Each exercise's records and history stay free.

What is the weekly goal?+

At the top of the Workouts tab, it counts this week's workouts against your target frequency, and your streak of successful weeks. Set the target frequency in Profile → pencil → Edit profile.

How do I check that my program is balanced?+

Put your program's workouts in a folder, then open the folder's ··· menu → “Program muscle distribution”. Set how many times a week you run the folder, and the app works out the planned sets per muscle group, flags missing muscles and those only trained as secondary. Tap a muscle to see which exercises train it.

This is a Premium feature. It looks at what is written in your templates, not at what you actually did: for that, see “Muscle Distribution” in My stats.

How do I track my weight and body measurements?+

Profile → Tracking → “Measurements”, then “Add my measurements”. You can track weight, body fat and ten circumferences: shoulders, chest, arms, waist, hips, thighs and calves. Only fill in what you measured that day.

Entries and history are free; the progress chart is part of Premium. Weight, body fat and waist can sync with Apple Health or Health Connect.

AI analysis

How does AI analysis work?+

There is no AI inside Musku: the app prepares a structured summary of your training (a “prompt”) that you hand to the AI of your choice. In Profile → AI analysis, there are two of them: “AI progress analysis” (your last 30, 60 or 100 workouts) and “AI program analysis” (your templates and folders).

Tap “Copy prompt” and paste it into ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini or any other AI, or use “Ask AI” to open one of them directly. A program analysis can also be started from a folder's ··· menu. This is a Premium feature.

Is my data sent to an AI?+

No. The prompt is built on your phone and nothing is sent until you share it yourself. You can read all of it before copying it.

Devices & sync

Apple Watch

What does the Apple Watch app do?+

It follows you on your wrist during the workout: current set, load and reps, rest timer and heart rate. You can check off sets, change their type, add a set or an exercise, or replace one.

Musku doesn't appear on my Apple Watch, what should I do?+

Open the Watch app on your iPhone, scroll down to “Available Apps” and tap “Install” next to Musku. It requires watchOS 10 or later.

Can I train without my iPhone?+

Yes: from the Watch, start a “Free workout” or one of your own, and leave the iPhone in the locker. At the end, the workout is sent to your iPhone, right away if it's in range, otherwise as soon as it is again.

The iPhone is still needed to create your templates, send them to the Watch and save the workout to your account.

My workouts don't show up on the Watch, what should I do?+

Open Musku on your iPhone, then tap “Sync” on the Watch. Your templates and exercise library are sent by the iPhone: if you haven't created a template yet, the Watch only offers the free workout.

The workout I did on the Watch doesn't reach my iPhone+

The Watch sends the workout as soon as the iPhone is reachable: bring the two devices together, check that Bluetooth is on and open Musku on the iPhone. A “Workout saved” message confirms it arrived; if the iPhone is offline, it says “Workout queued” and sends it to your account once the network is back.

Don't redo the workout by hand: it would end up duplicated.

Is heart rate measured?+

Yes, live during the workout, using the Apple Watch sensors.

Heart rate doesn't show on the Watch+

Musku needs your permission to read heart rate: the watch asks the first time you start a workout. If you declined, turn it back on from the iPhone in Settings → Health → Data Access & Devices → Musku. Also check that the watch fits snugly on your wrist.

Apple Health & Health Connect

How do I connect Musku to Apple Health or Health Connect?+

Profile → ⚙︎ Settings → the “Apple Health” section (iPhone) or “Health Connect” (Android). There are two independent switches: one for your workouts, one for your measurements. On Android, the section only appears if Health Connect is installed and up to date.

What data is exchanged?+

Your workouts are written to Health as strength training workouts, with their duration and an estimate of energy burned. Measurements go both ways: weight, body fat and waist. Health Connect has no waist measurement, so on Android it stays in Musku.

When you turn it on, Musku automatically imports up to one year of measurements. Values you typed into Musku yourself take priority.

The app says “Permission denied”, what should I do?+

On iPhone, open Settings → Health → Data Access & Devices → Musku, and turn the categories on. On Android, open Settings → Health Connect → Musku. Then switch it back on in Musku.

My Health data isn't coming through, what should I do?+

For workouts: check that the switch is on and that Musku is allowed to write workouts. A workout is written to Health when you save it: those from before you turned it on are not included.

For measurements: turn their switch on, allow reading weight and body fat, then open Profile → Tracking → “Measurements”: the import runs again every time you open that screen, over one year of history. On Android, Health Connect must be installed and up to date.

iPhone widget

How do I start a workout from the home screen?+

Add the Musku widget (medium or large, iOS 17 or later) to your home screen. It lists your workouts: one tap opens the app straight on the one you picked.

To choose which workouts appear, long-press the widget → “Edit Widget”: up to 4 workouts in medium, 8 in large. For now the widget is iPhone only, and its text is in French.

Offline mode

Does the app work without a connection?+

Yes. You can start and finish a workout offline, from a template or freestyle, including from the Apple Watch. You can also browse your history, and edit or delete a past workout.

The workout is saved on the phone, then synced automatically as soon as you're back online, with no duplicates and no data lost.

How do I know my workout has synced?+

When you save offline, the app tells you the workout is saved locally. Once the network is back, or the next time you open the app, a “Sync complete” message confirms it was sent.

My workout isn't syncing, what should I do?+

Check that the phone is back online, then reopen Musku: sending restarts every time the network returns and every time you open the app, and a “Sync complete” message confirms it.

Until that message appears, don't recreate the workout by hand (it would end up duplicated) and don't uninstall the app: the pending workout is stored on your phone. If it stays stuck, write to us.

What does need a connection?+

Creating, editing or duplicating a template, browsing ready-made programs, and viewing statistics and AI analyses.

Premium & subscription

Premium subscription

What does Premium include?+
  • unlimited workout templates (3 on the free plan);
  • every ready-made program;
  • the full statistics: monthly summary, muscle distribution, top progressions, strength index, session analysis, activity calendar, badges;
  • progress charts for every exercise and for your measurements;
  • AI analyses of your progress and your program;
  • the planned muscle distribution of a program.

Pricing is on the home page; the exact price in your currency is shown in the app before any purchase.

What stays free?+

The essentials, with no time limit and no ads: unlimited workouts, freestyle workouts, history, the full exercise library and your custom exercises, records, rest timer, folders, Apple Watch, Health sync, widget, share card, measurement entries and offline mode.

Is there a free trial?+

A free trial may be offered depending on the offer available when you subscribe. If it is, its duration and the price that follows are shown on the subscription screen before you confirm, and the button becomes “Start free trial”. Nothing is charged before the trial ends; to avoid being charged, cancel at least 24 hours before it does.

The trial is for new subscribers: it is no longer offered if you have subscribed before.

How do I manage or cancel my subscription?+

It depends on the store you subscribed through. On iPhone: Settings → your Apple account → Subscriptions. On Android: Play Store → your profile picture → Payments and subscriptions → Subscriptions. Either way, you can cancel at any time and keep Premium until the end of the period you paid for.

I changed phones, how do I get Premium back?+

Premium is tied to your Musku account: log in with the same account and it comes back on its own, even when moving from iPhone to Android or back. If it doesn't, tap a Premium feature to open the subscription screen, then “Restore purchases” at the very bottom.

The subscription itself is still managed by the App Store or Google Play, with the account that paid for it.

I can't restore my Premium, what should I do?+

First check that you are logged in to the same Musku account as when you bought it: Premium is tied to it. Then open the subscription screen and tap “Restore purchases”, with the phone signed in to the Apple or Google account that paid for the subscription.

If the app answers “No active purchases found.”, check in your store's subscriptions that Musku's is still active. Otherwise, write to us with your Musku account email and the purchase date.

What happens to my data if my subscription ends?+

Nothing is deleted: your workouts, templates and history stay intact. You simply go back to the limits of the free plan, and everything opens up again if you resubscribe.

Account & privacy

Account & data

How do I sign in?+

With email and password, with “Continue with Google”, or with Apple on iPhone. Passwords need at least 8 characters, with an uppercase letter, a lowercase letter, a digit and a special character.

I forgot my password+

On the login screen, tap “Forgot password?”, enter your email, then “Send link”. If the address matches an account, you receive a reset link; remember to check your spam folder.

I signed up with Apple, how do I log in on Android?+

Sign in with Apple only exists on iPhone. On Android, use “Forgot password?” with your account's email: you set a password, then log in by email.

If you chose “Hide My Email” when signing up, your Musku account carries an Apple relay address. Find it in Musku on the iPhone: Profile → ⚙︎ Settings → Account → “Account email” (long-press to copy). That is the address to enter. If the reset email doesn't arrive, write to us.

How do I change my email or password?+

Profile → ⚙︎ Settings → Account → “Change email” or “Change password”. These options don't appear for an account created with Apple or Google, which has no Musku password.

Is my data synced?+

Yes, your account syncs your workouts and data across your devices, iPhone and Android alike, whenever you're online.

Can I opt out of anonymous usage statistics?+

Yes. The app asks on first launch, and you can change your mind at any time in Profile → ⚙︎ Settings → Privacy → “Anonymous statistics”. Details are in the privacy policy.

How do I delete my account?+

In the app: Profile → ⚙︎ Settings → at the very bottom, “Danger zone” → “Delete my account”. You confirm with your password, or with Apple or Google depending on your account. Deletion cannot be undone.

Remember to cancel your subscription first: deleting the account does not cancel an active subscription. Full details are on the Account deletion page.
